I have been involved in
swimming my whole life, started competing at age 7 and swam all the
way through my freshman year at UW-Whitewater, where I eventually
earned ,my degree in Marketing.
After college, my husband Erik and I moved to the Madison area and
somehow I found my way to the Oregon Community Pool to teach water
exercise and swim lessons.
In Fall, 2005 I became an assistant coach for OCSC. I coached
group 2 swimmers until accepting the Head Coach position in
November 2009. I am delighted to be a part of such a talented and
energetic team of young athletes!
I also work as an Educational Assistant at Netherwood Knoll
Elementary. My husband and I have two future swimmers, son Casey
and daughter Morgan who can’t get enough of the water. In my
free time I love to cook, bike, stamp & scrapbook (I am a
Stampin’ Up demonstrator), play outside and of
course…swim!

years.
I started teaching as a
teacher's aide, here at the Oregon Pool in 1989 when the pool first
opened. I then taught swimming and log rolling in LaCrosse at
the LaCrosse YMCA. When I came back to Oregon I was teaching
in the school district and teaching at the pool in the evenings and
summer.
I have been coaching with
OCSC for the past five years. I am also an instructor for
teaching people how to teach swimming lessons for the American Red
Cross.

Hello! My name is
Martha O'Brien and I am just finishing school at
UW-Madison where I studied population health and swam with the
Master's team on campus.
Swimming has been a part of my life since I was young. I
started
swimming for our local club team, then transitioned to high
school,
and finally swam for UW River Falls, specializing in breast stroke
and
individual medley. Not only have I been a swimmer, but
also
lifeguarded and coach for multiple teams and I look forward to
being
back on the pool deck as a member of OCSC.
